'Robyn has a special talent for creating ceremonies that truly reflect those involved. We had so many comments about the personal nature of our service ~ Robyn, thanks for helping us create exactly what we were after.'
Melanie & Christian - July 2008
Special words I will treasure from a gorgeous young couple I married in a very moving ceremony at O'Reilly's Canungra Creek Vineyards in July 2008. As a celebrant, I know I am truly blessed in having found the most wonderful job in the world.
In what other job do you have a magic window into sharing the most special of life's wondrous events and bathing in the love and sheer happiness that surrounds ceremonies such as marriages, name givings, commitment and affirmation of wedding vow ceremonies?
I have lived in or near the magnificent Tweed Valley since 1980. During most of this time, I worked in Murwillumbah in senior management of a well-known community sector organization. My two boys Ben & Simon, loved growing up on our 5 acres at Eungella, and between them now are the proud parents of five dear little girls Rosie, Erin, Lilly , Holly and little Ivy - who are the lights of my life.
In mid 2006, I moved to the Canungra area and the delights of the hinterland areas of Springbrook, Beechmont and Tamborine Mountain proved irresistable so now I've even bought my own home where I am living at the top of Beechmont. Its a graceful (and original) Queenslander, and I like the cooler mountain air with its close proximity to Binna Burra National Park, where I should try and go bushwalking a lot more often than I actually do!
Becoming a civil marriage celebrant is definitely one of the high points of what has been a wonderful life. For many years I have shared with friends my dream to perform weddings, but the time and opportunity never arose, until late in 2004 - when I grasped it with both hands.
I have received such wonderful feedback from all of my couples to date. This has been my greatest inspiration. Being a celebrant is just so right for me, and my pedantic nature in writing words, grammar and public speaking all seems so justified now - because it is all about getting 'it right' that makes the difference between ordinary and memorable. And that's my mission.
Let's celebrate - Robyn Mills
